Pai Thai has long been our favourite Dubai restaurant. Incredible cuisine, sweeping views and an unforgettable experience just getting there, has earned it cult status over the years. Now, this idyllic Thai restaurant at Souk Madinat Jumeirah has reopened following an extensive refurbishment which promises to deliver a brand-new culinary experience in a “reimagined” setting – we couldn’t be more excited!
The award-winning culinary team at Pai Thai has enhanced its menu offering and curated two new permanent F&B concepts to complement the popular à la carte menu. The new concepts include a brand-new brunch, The Rite of Siam and the 5 Tastes of Thailand five-course tasting menu.
For die-hard fans of this Dubai institution, fear not for Pai Thai’s award-winning signature dishes have remain untouched, just simply complimented by new additions which promise to significantly enhance the menu.
The 5 Tastes of Thailand set menu will take diners on a culinary journey based around five primary tastes – sweet, salty, spicy, bitter and sour. Comprising Thai classics served with the signature Pai Thai touch, the five-course tasting menu features a variety of bites, small plates, mains and desserts. Highlight dishes include Goong Yang (grilled prawns and lemongrass skewers); Tom Khar Goong (tangy coconut prawn soup with king oyster mushroom and lemongrass); Gaeng Massaman Nuea (braised beef massaman curry with sweet potato, onion and peanut); and Pla Nung Ma Now (steamed seabass fillet with garlic, chilli, Thai celery and lime sauce) among others. Available for a minimum of two people throughout the week, the tasting menu is priced at AED 295 per person with an optional beverage pairing for AED 200 per head. The 5 Tastes of Thailand menu is also available in a vegetarian version upon request.
Pai Thai’s brand-new brunch concept, The Rite of Siam, is available every Friday and Saturday from 12:30 – 4pm. For a truly authentic experience, guests will be welcomed by a Thai gong and greeted with a wai – the traditional Thai greeting – while Pai Thai’s resident dancer Wanthakan will entertain diners throughout the day. The unhurried foodie experience allows guests to indulge in the very best of Pai Thai’s family sharing-style dishes, featuring much-loved signatures such as Sate Gai (grilled marinated chicken sate with turmeric peanut sauce); Som Tam Je (green papaya salad with cashew nut and tamarind dressing); Gaeng Khiew Wan Phak (green chicken curry with Thai eggplant and Thai basil); and Kao Niew Ma Muang (sweet sticky rice with ripe mango and coconut syrup), which will be prepared tableside. The Rite of Siam packages start at AED 195 per person for food only; AED 245 for soft drinks; and AED 395 for house beverages.
In addition to the new F&B offerings, Pai Thai has also undergone a major renovation of its exterior and interior. Authentic to its core, every detail of Pai Thai’s new look is centred around the scents, sounds, colours and materials found in Thai culture. With traditional Thai umbrellas, candles, incense and jasmine aromas welcoming guests on arrival, the sensorial ambiance is carried through the various distinct rooms and spaces in the restaurant, each offering a different flair and function.
Pai Thai has also revealed the addition of a brand-new bar lounge, which blends the outdoor with indoor and serves as the ideal pre- and post-meal drink spot. The new interior narrative was inspired by the Thai residence of Jim Thompson – the American businessman known for revitalising the Thai silk industry – with eclectic Asian and colonial touches throughout the design approach which elevates Pai Thai’s already established soul and charm.
