We’re lovers of French cuisine and the award-winning Le Classique at Emirates Golf Club has long been a favourite of ours, so we were rather excited when we heard the news that they have re-launched their popular ‘Gourmet Tuesdays’ this month.
Naturally, we popped straight down to sample the delights of this delightful hidden gem.
We say hidden gem but really Le Classique is somewhat of a Dubai institution, known and loved by UAE foodies for its unmissable dining experience. From its refined atmosphere, stunning outdoor terrace with breathtaking views out across the marina skyline to its gourmet fare, Le Classique ticks each and every box for a sophisticated evening out.
‘Gourmet Tuesdays’ take place midweek, every week from 7pm until 10:30pm and helps fill the brunch gap for those that just can’t wait until Friday. The emphasis here is less on eating and drinking as much as you can (although you can) but more on savouring the beauty of the flavours in the dishes and enjoying some delicious French cuisine courtesy of the talented Chef Remi.
The menu at Le Classique changes with the seasons so there’s always another excuse to pop back and with its combination of buffet and a la carte dining, it offers the best of everything.
So let us explain a little how Gourmet Tuesdays work; You’ll notice when you enter the restaurant that the walkway is lined each side with delicious treats. A small but worthy selection of cold entrees and breads on one side and a devilishly tempting selection of sweet deserts on the other. You’re invited to pick your starters from here as well as the hot starter selection on the opposite side of the restaurant serving up traditional garlic escargots (snails), zesty prawns and some amazing seared Foie Gras. There are also soups available from the a la carte section and it wouldn’t really be French cuisine without everyone’s favourite ‘Onion Soup’ on offer.
Aside from a sumptuously succulent beef carving station you choose your miniature main courses from the a la carte menu, an excellent idea meaning you never have to choose between the lamb or the fish again for you can have them all! Portion sizes are reduced to allow for maximum courses. The Slow Cooked Duck, Seared Scallops and Lamb with Pea Puree were standout dishes for us. There is even an adventurous choice for Vegetarians with the Warm Beetroot Salad with Potato Ice Cream a definite must-try!
Of course, French dining wouldn’t be complete without wine and cheese and Le Classique not only offers 12 varieties of wine to complement your meal but cheese galore to round off the evening rather nicely!
You’ll notice we haven’t even mentioned the desert buffet, this is because each and every miniature desert was so delicious we couldn’t possibly pick one, but if we had to it would be the pocket-sized fruit salad and bitter chocolate tart (Ok, that’s two!)
All in all it’s a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a weekday evening, a fabulous alternative to the traditional Tuesday Ladies’ Nights and it means your other half can enjoy great food at great value too!
