Drink & Dine Perfect for...

Casual Gastronomy at Fraiche Café & Bistro

Heralded as one Dubai’s coolest hotspots, this uber cool bistro located in the heart of Jumeirah Lake Towers is just over 2 years old and is still tipped as the place to go for casual dining in the JLT area.

This Montreal inspired cafe & bistro has an ever evolving menu which is one of things we love best about it. This changing menu reflects the availability of seasonal produce and coupled with the restaurant’s commitment to supporting locally sourced ingredients and suppliers, is yet another reason this cute eatery stands out.

A light and airy venue with fantastic views out across the lake, its swarming with office workers from the nearby towers over a lunchtime, keen to make the most of the brilliant Dubai sunshine without sweltering in the heat, although of course you can also eat outside should you so wish. The atmosphere is one of animated chatter and a sense of calm, it’s informal, relaxed and a great place to catch up with friends or colleagues.

Looking around we spotted various types of clientele from larger groups of work colleagues bonding over breaded creations to couples lost in intimate conversation, there were laptops galore being punched furiously by busy bloggers as they recouped with a cappuccino as well as one of two lone rangers comfortably reclining with a book and a pot of tea, it’s all very down to earth, whether you’re visiting for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The thing about Fraiche Cafe is that it could easily be classed as a fine dining experience such is the quality of the food. The menu is diverse with variations of comfort food as well as a few twists on traditions. The food feels familiar and the uncomplicated combinations let the ingredients speak for themselves and make them a pleasure to eat.

Now, breakfast here is somewhat of a staple and I’m never one to believe the hype but let me tell you, everything you may have heard about morning dining at Fraiche Cafe is entirely true, and what’s better the breakfast menu is actually served all day! Perfect for late risers or people like me that make an excuse for pancakes whatever the hour!

The French Toast here is a must try, along with the different variations of. The homemade banana bread take on French toast is absolutely delicious with banana, roasted walnuts and salted caramel. For those like me that love their pancakes, I can inform you they are very good. There are of course lots of egg based options from eggs benedict with turkey ham to eggs florentine with flaky smoked salmon and sauteed spinach.

The rest of the menu is a delight of sandwiches, salads and main courses. The classic Fraiche burger is an enormous mountain of meat and salad and comes serves with fries, served on brioche.

For a mid-day snack, the jerk chicken dip is a great choice. Roast jerk chicken is topped with stringy melted cheese resting on top of sourdough bread and served with a chicken au jus dip, and for those that are a little more conscious of their waistlines the kiwi and couscous salad is an unusual combination that manages to be both mouth-watering and nutritious. Kale, pineapple and ginger form the base of this salad.

All in all, there’s something for everyone and if you want a place with good food and an even better atmosphere, we highly recommend Fraiche Café & Bistro.

Fraiche Café & Bistro is located on the Ground Floor of The Swiss Tower in Jumeriah Lake Towers (JLT).
