Dubai is not just great for large scale international sporting events and concerts, art is becoming a much more important fixture on the UAE cultural scene and the art season is now well and truly underway. For those of you that have a passion for creation, or simply want enjoy beautiful art and design, here is our pick of the best of the Dubai Art Season 2015.
14th-24th – SIKKA Art Fair
The Sikka Art Fair showcases the best of the UAE’s arts community. Running for 11 days from March 14th until the 24th, the Sikka Art Fair takes place in Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood in Bur Dubai and admission is free. Featuring works of 50 UAE based artists, representing 25 nations, spanning an array of mediums including audio and video installations, multi-disciplinary initiatives, artistic installations, music performances and visual arts such as sculpture, photography and painting.

16th March – Alserkal Avenue Galleries Night
Alserkal Avenue is an arts and culture hub in Al Quoz. It’s a home to 25 creative spaces and 9 contemporary galleries, not to mention a private museum. The Galleries Night features both VIP viewings and Public viewings. Jashanmal Books have a pop-up art bookshop, the A4 space will screen Alserkal Avenue’s Artist Video Programme and there will be a video and DJ music set by Flamingods amongst other activations.

16th March– Art Nights Gate Village
DIFC galleries will host a new edition of Art Nights at Gate Village on Monday, 16 March from 7pm to 10pm. Along with new exhibition openings, the evening combines art, design, music and cuisine in a contemporary urban environment that includes special events such as film screenings, live art performances, artist talks, tours, workshops and more.

16th-20th March– Design Days Dubai
Design Days Dubai is the leading fair in the Middle East and South Asia dedicated to collectible and limited edition furniture and design objects. The fair presents design from leading international designers and galleries alongside up and coming design from across the world. The fair also presents a strong non-commercial programme consisting of education, workshops, installations and live performances. One-day pass Dhs50, free admissions for under 18’s and students. 18th-21th March – Art Dubai
Art Dubai is the leading international art fair in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia. The ninth edition of the fair takes place this March. Taking place each year in March, Art Dubai presents a select yet diverse line-up of around 90 galleries from the UAE and around the world, across three programmes: Contemporary; Modern, devoted to masters from the Middle East, Africa and South Asia; and Marker, a curated section of art spaces that focuses each year on a particular theme or geography.

8th-11th April– World Art Dubai
World Art Dubai, is a new accessible art fair created to bring together regional and global artists and galleries with Dubai’s international community. A unique fusion of art, education and entertainment, the debut of World Art Dubai reflects the city’s growing prominence as a leading culture and arts hub. World Art Dubai will house an affordable collection of several hundred modern, contemporary and fine artworks comprising paintings and prints, photography, sculpture, installations, performances, mixed media, new media and street art – presented by international and local artists and galleries from across four continents. 9th-11th April– Middle East Film & Comic Con
The Middle East Film & Comic Con (MEFCC) is the only consumer event for fans of cult entertainment & popular culture in the Middle East. It has a cult following and is one of the highlights of the Dubai events calendar.
