Brunch Drink & Dine

Asia Meets The Middle East at Dusit Thani

If you’re looking for a lazy Friday brunch with fantastic cuisine, Dusit Thani could be the one for you.

It may not shout as loud as some of the more established or newer Dubai brunches but for those in the know it’s become somewhat of a Dubai tradition.

Dusit Thani is a luxurious 5* hotel in the heart of the business district in Dubai that manages to perfectly capture the essence of Thailand in its decor and service. Every Friday, all of the hotel’s restaurants combine for a  brunch like no other. A combination of Thai, Italian, European and of course, Asian dishes make for a great selection that does not compromise on quality.  The entire 24th floor is taken over and the food takes centre stage in the middle. The striking centrepiece being a sashimi and sushi display laid on top of a carved ice structure. The gorgeous views out onto Sheik Zayed Road of the Dubai skyline definitely help here too. There’s one for your instagram account!

The lay out of this particular brunch makes it a popular choice with groups, with options for more private dining if you wish. The restaurant’s majestic appearance resembles the royal dining halls of King Rama IV with lots of mahogany wood and ornate light fixtures.

There’s entertainment of course, in the form of Thai dancers and a lullaby of classically trained pianists, so don’t expect DJs and maracas here, this is not a boisterous brunch. It is understated, elegant and a breath of fresh air. That being said, you can still dress up to the nines just perhaps leave the glitz at home. The crowd is an eclectic mix of hotel guests, families, birthday parties and sophisticated expats seeking good food in good company without breaking the bank.

The focus here is on the food, particularly the Asian selection which is the main draw and doesn’t disappoint, there is something for everyone of all ages. The Ped Yang Phad Bai Kraprao (that’s stir-fried roasted duck in chilli to you and me) and the Goong Kratieam Prig Thai ( lightly battered garlic prawns ) are standout dishes. Perhaps the best thing about the Dusit Thani brunch is that for such fantastic fare it is competitively priced. Starting at AED155 for food only and ranging up to AED465 including bubbly, there is something for every budget which makes for happy diners when booking in groups.

If you’re looking to relax in luxury whilst you eat your spring rolls, Dusit Thani has it covered.
