For those looking for something different from their Dubai based hotel but without wanting to compromise on five-star luxury, the new Hyatt Regency Dubai Creek Heights is a unique blend of leisure and business accommodation coupled with exceptional hospitality.
The renowned Hyatt brand has positioned itself in the midst of Dubai Healthcare City, close to the contemporary bustle of Downtown and the ancient charm of the old city, it’s a hotel that makes for a perfect base for all types of stays.
Being just over a year old, everything about the hotel positively gleams. It’s impressive lofty atrium houses several notable restaurants and is filled with polite yet animated chatter from hotel guests escaping the heat and waiting for their transportation to collect them for a days sightseeing or meetings.
As a purely leisure traveller, I was keen to see what the Hyatt Regency Creek Heights could offer someone looking for a relaxing weekend break, escaping the usual tourist trappings of the marina and Jumeirah.
As I briefly touched upon, the hotel itself is vast with a total of 461 guestrooms spread across some 34 floors. The rooms themselves vary in size quite substantially so bear this in mind when booking, although each and every one boasts attractive minimalist decor and all the mod-cons you’d expect from a five-star property in Dubai. The standard rooms which come in at a relatively small 38 square metres more than make up for the lack of space in comfort. A large, comfortable Hyatt Grand bed takes centre stage facing an obligatory flat screen HDTV complete with media hub. There’s a work space area complete with desk and ergonomic chair and a neighbouring window that offers panoramic views of either Dubai Creek or the famous Downtown skyline.
From the spacious Executive Rooms with separate living area to the Regency Suites complete with club level access, there is a room to suit each and every taste and budget. If you’re looking for that extra level of personalized service I thoroughly recommend booking a suite where you can enjoy the secluded, bespoke world of the 32nd floor which offers guests an exclusive space away from other hotel guests where you can enjoy complementary continental breakfast, all-day refreshments, evening cocktails and canapes and many more notable features.
The hotel even offers a signature 1,200 square metre Royal Suite which encompasses the entire top floor of the hotel and is a beautifully modern space, a contrast of stark sky light and bursts of primary colour.
From the comfort of your room to the health and leisure facilities available where your wellbeing and relaxation is the utmost importance. The stunning rooftop pool is quite the talking point with submerged sun-loungers to keep cool whilst making the most of Dubai’s perfect year-round weather. For fitness buffs there is a state-of-the-art gym and for those (like me) that prefer to take things a little easier on their travels, the Nysa Spa is the perfect urban retreat to escape for a few stolen hours. With an exclusive hydrotherapy ‘water temple’, traditional regional therapies are incorporated into an extensive treatment menu that include massage, body treatments and innovative facials. There’s a traditional Hammam with scrub room and mud bath area and an ice fountain for the brave that crave an after-thermal experience that is proven to boost circulation.
All this doing nothing is hungry work and luckily Hyatt Regency Creek Heights has a number of dining options available to both hotel and outside guests. Quite possibly the most well-known is La Tablita, an energized Mexican restaurant located on the ground floor which sees diners in the know flock from all over Dubai on a Thursday night to sample the live weekend entertainment and rather excellent Margarita cocktails.
Other restaurants worth noting include Sufra which is the hotel’s ‘destination’ eatery, showcasing a selection of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Indian and Western speciality dishes through a hearty buffet featuring mezzes, Turkish charcoal meat and Iranian mixed grills. This all-day-dining venue is great for families and couples alike, before heading to the stylish @LivingRoom bar located high-up on the 34th floor and featuring amazing views out across the Dubai skyline, particularly at sunset.
The Hyatt Regency Creek Heights is somewhat of a hidden gem; it’s perfectly positioned to enjoy all that Dubai has to offer without leaning too far towards either the tourist or business clientele. If you’re looking to get away from it all without really getting away at all, this is a great hotel choice.
