A Look Inside Meydan One

The world’s tallest residential building, the longest ski slope, highest fountains… Dubai is planning to do it again.

Earlier this month plans were unveiled  by His Heighness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for a new Dubai based record-breaking development.

We’ve been here before have we not?

However, Meydan One will house not one, not two but three world-record breaking structures. Included in these will be the longest indoor ski slope at 1.2km, the largest dancing fountain at 420m and the tallest residential tower in the world at an eye-watering 711m tall which will come complete with a 360 –degree observation deck and of course, the world’s highest restaurant surpassing that at the Burj Khalifa.

Cue: Wipes brow.

Included in this mini city will also be a waterpark, numerous five-star hotels, a marina, indoor sporting facility, concert area and a 60,000 capacity outdoor space. Lest we forget the 540,000sqm shopping mall. Here in Dubai, we always need another shopping mall.

Phase one of the project will be completed by 2020 with construction already underway.

“We have committed to developing a multi-use destination which goes beyond expectations and will cater to every kind of person living and working here, as well as those who travel from around the world to visit,” Meydan chairman Saeed Al Tayer said. “This development is a forward thinking, interactive enterprise geared towards the Dubai of tomorrow. The encouragement and support we have received in the past from our trusted partners will now help the Meydan One development come to life.”
