It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas….
Whilst we may not have sparkly snow flakes and sub-zero temperatures (except in Ski Dubai) one thing we do have in the UAE is an abundance of rather good festive markets. So forget that weekend break to Germany and hot foot it down to one of the region’s Christmas markets this December.
Al Maryah Island’s Winter Wonderland, Abu Dhabi
Let’s start with the capital and Al Maryah Island’s waterfront promenade that has been transformed into a twinkling vista of fairy lights, a snowy winter village and magical live performances in time for the festive season. Pay a visit to Santa in his grotto inside The Galleria Mall and marvel at the range of festive activities on offer for families.

Fort Island’s Festive Market at Madinat Jumeirah
Perhaps the most popular and luxurious of the region’s festive markets is Madinat Jumeirah’s annual offering. One of the season’s most popular family attractions, this year a live band playing festive fancies will provide the backdrop to a number of activities and rides that the North Pole would be jealous of. Little ones can even take bra tours with Santa himself before decorating a huge gingerbread house. PS: Don’t forget the cookie garden. https://www.jumeirah.com/en/hotels-resorts/dubai/madinat-jumeirah/
Winter Garden Market at Al Habtoor City
Set in the Versailles Gardens of the St. Regis Dubai in the new Al Habtoor City, the Winter Garden Festive Market is about as enchanting as you get in the UAE in the lead up to Christmas. Meander through decked out stalls and munch on the gourmet food on offer for some real festive fun. Food & beverages are provided from the renowned outlets at the hotel alongside its neighbours the W Dubai and The Westin Dubai. Best of all? It’s free to enter! On until December 31st 2016. alhabtoorcity-hotelcollection.com
Festive Village at Atlantis, The Palm
In a hotel that is like a theme park for families itself, you’d expect some pretty special Christmas decorations and the Festive Village at Atlantis The Palm doesn’t disappoint. Found at Poseidon’s Court in front of the Ambassador Lagoon, you’ll get everything you could ever hope for in a Christmas display. Gorge on mince pies and cookies and gasp in wonder at the giant gingerbread houses. Rumour has it there is even a chocolate river! Open until Jan 7th 2017 www.atlantisthepalm.com
