Calling all seafood lovers there’s a new restaurant in town and we think it might just be right up your street.
The international Crab Tavern loved by city-suits in London has descended upon Dubai, namely Media One Hotel as the latest addition to Dubai’s dining scene.
Opening just last week it’s very new. With new, expect teething problems but as with any new restaurant in the UAE we’re positive it won’t be long until these are ironed out and it’s a firm staple on everyone’s must-visit list, especially those that love crab.
Shellfish fans ourselves we went to check it out. Located on the 9th floor of Media One with the fantastic views out onto the city that the hotel and it’s outlets have become renowned for, Crab Tavern is no exception.
The decor is funky, lots of light wood and industrial detailing, it’s American style is actually quite refreshing for Dubai as a whole and is very different to any of Media One’s other dining spots, we predict a stampede sooner rather than later.
Described as offering ‘New York style sandwiches and salads with seafood favourites including an array of hero crab dishes and a selection of more refined classics from the grill’, it appears to cater for most tastes so even if you’re not a fan of fish there are plenty of meat dishes (the steak tartare is excellent) to enjoy.
I, of course was there for the crab and crab I got. Opting for the Singapore Crab (it’s coated in chilli – just an fyi), an enormous bowl of crab was put in front of me. I don’t know why I was so surprised, I had ordered crab after all. I opted for sides of asparagus and fries. My dining companion picked the soft-shell lobster burger which was an excellent choice. Succulent crispy crab was layered in a fluffy white bun, accompanied by onion, lettuce, tomato and all the usual burger trimmings. Sauce has to be asked for but a little pot of creamy alioli was soon at the table, the perfect dip for my crabby burger.
The desert menu is another lit of delights with the brownie being a personal favourite and a great option to share, drizzled in caramel sauce and garnished with a dollop of ice-cream.
The foods great, once it got going the atmosphere was great and the service was as super friendly as we’ve come to know and love from Media One. Thumbs up all round!
